St Peter’s, Wolvercote

Worship at Wolvercote
About

The initial building of St Peter’s, Wolvercote took place in the mid 12th to mid 13th Century. However, the church in its present form was built in 1860.

There is a stone coffin that was found in the river near the Godstow Nunnery and given to St. Peter’s in the 1980’s having been offered, and refused by the Ashmolean Museum.  It now stands by the west door.

In July 2010, major developments started taking place in the parish. With the help of many kind donations, the church was considerably updated and now that this is almost finished, the next project is to raise money for a new pipe organ.
